Sand Caves were the first cave archetype I worked on for Star Citizen, introduced in the 3.18 content update. My initial task was to create one of the rooms from whiteboxing and generating cave shells (using our internal cave generator tools), to set dressing, building the cave systems, and placing them on the planets.
Later on, my responsibilities expanded to placing the sand cave archetype across multiple locations, including the Stanton and Pyro systems, and maintaining them as the cave-level owner.
Creating the sand cave archetype was a full team effort. Not only was the entire Planet team involved, but designers, lighting, VFX, SFX, and props artists all collaborated to bring it to life. I'm proud to have been part of such a large and coordinated effort.
